Imagine being completely alone with the
warm sunlight bathing your head and a whisper of wind
caressing your skin while paddling on a
lake set against an exquisite forest backdrop of tall
pines and rugged snow-capped mountain peaks. A place so quiet
the only sound is from the caw of a bird soaring overhead.
Where the only traffic encountered is a startled deer
along
the shore. Imagine no longer. There are dozens of these
pristine lake locations to paddle throughout California.
As an avid kayaker, when I first began
paddling different lakes throughout California, I recognized
the need for a guidebook on flat water paddling destinations
when I was unable to find sufficient information about them.
In the process of compiling maps,
photographs, and camping information on the different lakes I
paddled, I realized I had accumulated an enormous amount of
valuable data that could be beneficial to other individuals
who either didn't have the time to gather the information
themselves, or who didn't want to blindly venture to
unfamiliar destinations.
K ayaking
and canoeing can be the most emotionally and physically
rewarding experience
you'll
ever have. It can provide a pleasant diversion and a great time away from
life's day-to-day stress, whether you enjoy day tripping,
extended weekend jaunts or expedition touring. If you have
never tried paddling a serene remote lake before, you will be
glad once you do. So pack up your gear, hit the road and drive to one of these premier
paddling destinations this weekend!
