The Joint Club Paddle at Lake Morena on May 16th, 17th & 18th 2008
Update:  The campground is booked at Lake Morena o May 16th - 18th. II fractured my foot and won't be able to attend but the paddle will proceed as planned.  The picnic will still be at campsite #14.

If you want to check the weather report you can log onto www.weather.com type in "CAMPO" for the city. The weather temperature at Lake Morena has been ranging between 68 to 87 degrees during the day, and in the high 30's to mid 40's at night, so bring warm clothing and a sleeping bag.

If you want to see if there is a ban on open flames or check to see if there are last minute lake closures due to the quagga mussels problem log onto:

Or you can call the rangers at Lake Morena at: 619 579-4101.

If you plan on attending the paddle you need to take the following steps to inhibit the spread of the Quagga mussel:

  • Inspect all exposed surfaces - small mussels feel like sandpaper to the touch.
  • Wash the hull of each watercraft thoroughly, preferably with high pressure/hot water.
  • Remove all plants and animal material.
  • Drain all water and dry all areas.
  • Clean and dry all live-wells.
  • Empty and dry any buckets.
  • Dispose of all bait in the trash.
  • Wait five days and keep watercraft dry between launches into different fresh waters, and 14 days if you have been to a lake infected with quagga mussels.
Quagga Mussels have been found at the following destinations:

Lake Powell
Lake Mohave

Dixon Reservoir

Kayaking with One Leg

Kayaking is a superb sport for persons with or without a missing limb. It can enrich someone’s life, who is missing a leg limb, by giving them the opportunity, to explore new horizons, and to find a new kind of freedom on the water.

Lake Hodges

You’ll know it’s become a problem when….One day a man came home and was greeted by his wife dressed in a very sexy nightie. "Tie me up," she purred, "and you can do anything you want to."  So, he tied her up, and went fishing at Lake Hodges....
