Kayak Fishing: There’s no question the scenery is one thousand times better than the fishing at Woods Lake but there is fairly good action for catching rainbow trout in the 10 to 12 inch class which 2,500 are planted yearly. Visitors enjoy kayaking and canoeing, camping, fishing, and hiking at Woods Lake.

Terrain: Massive granite boulders poke out from the water’s surface providing intriguing views like you’ve never seen before. Twenty-five tent sites interspersed beneath tall ponderosa pines and firs in a thickly wooded area are available on a first-come, first-served basis. I’d consider Woods Lake more of a pond than a lake, but either way, you don’t want to pass by it without at least stopping to view its outstanding beauty. Try to plan your arrival time at the break of day to capture the gorgeous sunrise reflective images on the lake’s water surface.

Range and offers paddling opportunities during the summertime only due to the heavy snowfall beginning in early fall and continuing through late spring. The air temperature in the early morning and at night can drop into the late 30s and 40s during the summer, but the daytime high air temperature averages about 75 degrees.
